Top Performers: Leinster v Munster

Jack Conan

Continues to go from strength to strength this season and remains the form 8 in the country. Conan’s impact off the base of the scrum and his ball carrying ability was at the fore again today as he pitched in with some huge momentum shifting carries to get his side on the front foot. He didn’t shirk his defensive duties and made some massive hits to stem the Munster attack.

Sean Cronin

The Ireland hooker came into today’s game in need of a big performance up against Niall Scannell with both men hoping to secure their ticket to Japan with Joe Schmidt watching on. Cronin was solid at the set piece apart from one crooked feed into the lineout but remains the most dangerous open field runner of his position in world rugby. A slick backline move saw the ball shifted out to Cian Healy who fed his fellow prop Tadhg Furlong before Cronin burst onto the last pass to power over the line for the only try of the match.

Josh van der Flier

On his return to competitive action well ahead of schedule, van der Flier put in a massive shift for his side, showing his importance to his province following a series of injury set backs in recent years.  The Wicklow native caused complete havoc at the breakdown for Munster as he continuously slowed down their supply of quick ball. Van der Flier made 16 tackles and carried on 7 occasions for 15 metres, he won three turnovers to round off a memorable display.
