Toulouse Performance Gets a Pass Mark from Foster

"We had a clear idea about how we wanted to approach the game. We wanted to control the game early, through our pack, and the forwards did a good job of that and enabled us to play and look at the opportunities when we felt they were on.

"It was a step we had to take forward and we did and now we can refocus in a week in Bordeaux and keep ours set firmly on Italy."

He said prop Ethan de Groot's red card was frustrating. He felt there was some shoulder-on-shoulder involved in the incident, with the Namibian player getting some attention paid to his shoulder afterwards. Experience told him they would need to wait some time looking at the incident to get a clearer picture.

Foster said starting halfback and man of the match Cam Roigard played well. He had a pack performing well in front of him, and he took his opportunities.

"It's one thing to have good go-forward ball, but it's two to make good decisions with that, and he should be proud of it. He cleared well and cleared consistently. He didn't have to kick a lot, but when he did, he was effective, and we saw the benefit of his running game.

"I've been impressed with his growth in training. It was a big start for him and he took the opportunity."

Captain and No.8 Ardie Savea said they went into the game with clear goals.

"We wanted to attack, and I thought we did that well tonight. It's always good to see our backs running down the side and doing their thing. Really impressed and really happy with the way the boys have gone."

He said mixing and mingling with the Namibian players after the game was one of the traditional values of rugby.

"Both teams are in the changing room now sharing a beer. It's really humbling and it goes back to the traditional rugby values of smashing each other on the field then hugging each other outside of it. It's always special to be able to chat and check in on each other."

Savea said they still need to improve their discipline and defence.

"We gave a few penalties away and they got opportunities to drive. We want to eliminate those so we want to be ruthless in those areas."
