Ultimate Rugby partner up with wearable GPS tracker Playertek

Ultimate Rugby are excited to team up with Playertek, the world's first GPS-enabled competition-grade performance wearable designed for rugby players who want to personally track how they are performing.

The physical aspect of Rugby Union is one of the critical components of the game. To cope with the increasing physicality of the sport, players are now required to train and play at higher intensities and to more quickly recover from competition and injury. The application of GPS technology may allow the sports medicine practitioner to develop position-specific conditioning and rehabilitation programs.

The wearable uses the revolutionary professional-grade GPS Tracking System to track a player's movements on four levels – distance covered, top-speed, sprint distance, the number of sprints completed.
