USA Women team announcement v Canada

USA coach Rob Cain has named his team for the Rugby World Cup 2021 Pool B match against Canada at Waitakere Stadium on 23 October.

Scrum-half Carly Waters returns to the USA starting line-up for their Pool B match with neighbours Canada in Auckland.

Cain has made three personnel and one positional change to his starting line-up from the 30-17 victory over Japan

Nick James returns at tight-head alongside Hope Rogers and Joanna Kitlinski

Scrum-half Carly Waters is promoted from the bench to start alongside Gabriella Cantorna

Lotte Clapp comes into the starting line-up on the left wing with Tess Feury switching to full-back for the first time this weekend, all her other starts having been on the wing

It will be the first time Clapp faces Canada for the USA, although she has tasted victory twice in an England jersey in 2016 and 2017. She played 12 tests for England between 2015-17 before completing the birthright transfer process and making her Women’s Eagles debut in June

Second-row Evi Ashenbrucker and replacement scrum-half Bridget Kahele both made their test debuts against USA in their 36-5 loss to Canada in the World Rugby Pacific Four Series in New Zealand in June

Kahele and Katana Howard are the new faces on the bench from the Japan victory.
