Wales Show Their Muscle Against The Tongans

It was a much needed victory for the Welsh side as they took on the Tongans at the Principality Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Warren Gatland made as many as 14 changes to the side that beat the Wallabies last weekend in an effort to create depth for the ever so nearing World Cup. Having scored 10 tries, Gatland will be satisfied with his side’s performance following the changes that he made.

While the scores were locked at 24-all at the end of the second half, it was the Welsh side's second half performance that blew away the visiting Pacific Islanders. 50 unanswered points in the second half were more than enough for the Welsh. While there were many standout performances today, these were the pick of the players.

Dan Biggar - Wales

While there were many who put up their hands for the man of match in the end it was the Swansea born fly half who pipped it in the end. He has always been known for his cool, calm and collected style of play and today he was no difference as he showed why he has racked up 63 international games. His brilliant control of the game and his kicks out of hand drew much frustration for the Tongans as they always found themselves on the back foot. He also began a number of plays that led to trues with his clever passes and kick passes. He ended an overall performance on the try scorers list as well.

Jack Ball - Wales

The England born lock was absolutely tremendous in attack today. He has come of age since his first game in 2014 and today he bruised the defence with his runs often busting the first tackle. He also put in a solid shift in defence putting crunching tackles and turning over plenty of balls.

Rhys Patchell - Wales

Playing off the bench today, Rhys made his presence felt today. It is not often that one can come off the bench and find himself on the scoreboard, but today Rhys dotted over twice in the powerful second half performance displayed by the Welsh. He showed maturity to fit into fullback a position he is not too fond of. But with each and every passing minute he gained confidence from the back and kept the opposition defence guessing for the greater parts of the second half.
