Wallabies & All Blacks combined XV

Wallabies & All Blacks combined XV

1. Scott Sio

We start off the front row with Scott Sio getting the nod at Loosehead Prop. With the experienced duo of Tony Woodcock and Wyatt Crockett missing through injury Sio gets in the side ahead of Joe Moody. Sio has been a fantastic addition to the Wallabies side.

2. Stephen Moore

It is a close call deciding between Dane Coles and Stephen Moore but we decided to give Moore the number 2 jersey. The Wallabies captain set-piece play and experience puts him in the side.

3. Owen Franks

Younger brother of Ben, Owen Franks has been involved in the All Blacks squad for the last 7 years and his presence in the scrum has been hugely important in the success of this All Blacks side. One of the unsung heroes of the All Blacks.

4. Brodie Retalick

Arguably the best lock in the world as he looks to win his first World Cup on Saturday. Was named World player of the year last season and has very few weaknesses to his game.

5. Sam Whitelock

Whitelock teams up with Retalick as they do for their country with Simmonds and Douglas failing to make the cut. A World Cup winner in 2011 Whitelock will be looking to become one of few to win two World Cups.

6. David Pocock

Despite New Zealand having some of the most talented flankers in World Rugby that doesn’t stop David Pocock from getting picked in this side. Despite being plagued with injuries through the years, Pocock always seems to come back stronger and is one of the finest players at the breakdown.

7. Richie McCaw

It was a toss up between Michael Hooper and Richie McCaw and we have decided to give the number 7 jersey to the All Blacks captain. Saturday will be an emotional day for Rugby fans as we say farewell to one of the greatest players to have played the game.

8. Kieran Read

Kieran Read has not been at his best at this year’s World Cup but performance is virtue and class is permanent and the World player of the year in 2013 will look to add another piece of silverware come the end of 80 minutes on Saturday.

9. Aaron Smith

With Will Genia a shadow of his former self this makes our decision a little easier with Aaron Smith getting the number 9 jersey. Without a doubt the best scrum-half in the World at the moment and he will look to cap a great year with a World Cup winners medal.

10. Dan Carter

Dan Carter has proved a lot of doubters wrong this World Cup with the soon to be Racing Metro player rolling back the years with some fine performances. With Carter finishing his International career on Saturday. the All Blacks will be saying goodbye to one of the best 10’s to have ever worn the black of New Zealand.

11. Julien Savea

Probably the easiest decision to make was to include Julien Savea in the XV. 8 tries in the World Cup so far, Savea’s try record is frightening to say the least with 38 tries in 40 appearances for the All Blacks.

12. Ma’a Nonu

Toulon are lucky enough to have both Nonu and Giteau available for selection after the World Cup but we can only pick one and Nonu gets the nod at inside centre. playing in his fourth World Cup Nonu has been ever present since his debut in 2003 and will be sadly missed when he ends his international career on Saturday.

13. Conrad Smith

Of course we had to pair Conrad Smith with Ma’a Nonu in what has been one of the most devastating centre partnerships we will ever see. Smith will take to the field for the All Blacks one more time as he looks to end his illustrious career on a high.

14. Adam Ashley-Cooper

There will be disagreements with the selection of Adam Ashley-Cooper ahead of Nehe Milner-Skudder but over the last 10 years Ashley-Cooper has been one of the most important players for the Wallabies. He has played nearly every position in the backline and is a big game player and we saw plenty of that against Scotland and Argentina

15 Israel Folau

Ben Smith has had a tremendous World Cup but he misses out to Folau. Folau has had a frustrating World Cup but on his day he is simply unplayable. His ability to pick balls out of the sky and his strong running game puts fear in every side he comes up against.
