Waratahs boosted by return of Max Jorgensen from injury

The NSW Waratahs have received a major boost ahead of next week's Super Rugby Pacific opener against the Queensland Reds with superstar fullback Max Jorgensen named to play for Waratahs A against Manly/Warringah.

Jorgensen has been named at fullback for the trial at Pittwater Park on Saturday, his first appearance since breaking his leg during the World Cup.

The teenager was in line for his debut against Portugal before the freak injury ended his dream.

"It's a bit of a blur now. Just went up for a high ball and not even contested," Jorgensen said on the injury.

"Just landed on it and snapped it and yeah, obviously it's devastating. I was just praying that it'd be a bad rolled ankle or something like that, but went off to get a scan and it was obviously broken straight through.

"It was devastating to go back on the plane ride, by myself, just in my own thoughts."

Jorgensen is joined in the side by Wallaby Izaia Perese after he missed the defeat to the Reds with an ankle injury.

Waratahs coach Darren Coleman has rested a host of players for the clash, with the entire starting XV from the clash in Roma given the week off.

It allows Teddy Wilson to captain the side, with the Junior Wallabies skipper joined by Easts halves partner Jack Bowen.

Fergus Lee-Warner provides experience in the forward pack along with new recruits Theo Fourie and Hayden Thompson-Stringer.

Wallabies skipper Dave Porecki and Ned Hanigan are amongst several players racing the clock to be fit for next week's match in Brisbane.

The hooker is dealing with an Achilles issue whilst Hanigan is continuing to recover from a hamstring injury.
