A statement from Wasps reads: “Director of Rugby Dai Young will be stepping back from first-team duties for an interim period.

“Lee Blackett will step up to Interim Head Coach. Further announcements will be made in due course.”

Young, who joined Wasps in 2011, guided the club to the Premiership final in 2017, losing in extra-time defeat to Exeter. The following season they made it to the semi-finals.

Last season saw them finish eighth and this term they began their campaign with eight defeats in ten league and European games.

Wasps backs coach Blackett will be in charge for this Saturday’s Premiership match against Leicester at Welford Road.
