Watch: Headbutts in Toulon-Bordeaux game results in two sending offs

Tempers boiled over in the Top 14 clash between RC Toulon and Union Bordeaux Begles on Saturday with two red cards brandished in the 79th minute.

In the final minute of the match, Bordeaux won a lineout just outside their 22 and spread the ball wide looking to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat as they trailed Toulon 21-18.

Toulon defended the attack well with winger Aymeric Luc winning a penalty out wide, which would have sealed the result for Toulon - just their fifth win of the season.

However, a scuffle broke out after Bordeaux back Geoffrey Cros shoved Toulon centre Rayan Rebbadj (who was playing just his second Top 14 game).

The 22-year-old centre grabbed Cros before landing a headbutt on the Bordeaux back, who responded with one his own.

This led to another scuffle where Bordeaux hooker Clement Maynadier ripped Eben Etzebeth's jersey.

Rebbadj and Cros were both shown red cards, with the penalty reversed in Bordeaux's favour.

Luckily for Rebadj, his actions did not cost his team the result as Toulon were able to snuff out Bordeaux's attack from the ensuing lineout and cleared the ball into touch for just their fifth win of the season.

Toulon ended the weekend in 13th place on the overall Top 14 standings. The relegation-threatened side does have two games in hand over the three clubs just above them with six points separating them and tenth-placed Pau.
