Watch: Noel Reid red carded on his TOP14 debut

Former Ireland international and Leinster back, Noel Reid made his TOP14 debut for Agen in Friday's TOP14 action.

Reid started at outside centre in Agen's defeat to Pau with the centre being shown a straight red card in the latter stages of the game.

Agen were well within a shot of winning the game at halftime as they trailled Pau by just two points. Promising French flyhalf Antoine Hastoy got the scoring underway with a try, conversion and penalty for Pau as they led 10-0 after 11 minutes.

Agen hit back with two penalties via the boot of Raphael Lagarde before Martin Puech scored Pau's second try from a tap and go in the Agen 22. The visitor's went a man down with Romain Briatte going to the bin for an infringement in the build up to Peuch's try but Agen did well to close out the half with Lagarde slotting two penalties and a drop goal.

A penalty try and two place kicks saw Pau lead 30-18 with 20 minutes to play before Lori Tolot closed the gap with a try in te 70th minute.

Trailing by seven, Agen's hopes of winning the game were shattered when Noel Reid was shown a straight red card for this shoulder to the head of Pau centre Elliot Roudil.

Michael Harris slotted a penalty to close the game out for Pau who have now won back to back games to start the season.

Meanwhile, Reid may have to wait some time to get his next cap for Agen after joining the club from Leicester Tigers after he was one of five players who opted not to take a pay cut at the club.

Reid joined the Tigers after eight years at Leinster where he earned a test call up and debuted for Ireland against Argentina in 2014.

He joined Leicester Tigers ahead of the 2019/20 season and made 12 appearances for the club in the Premiership before heading to France.
