A 50-metre interception try highlighted All Black winger Rieko Ioane's return to provincial rugby as Auckland beat Bay of Plenty 19-13 on Saturday.
The under-pressure winger had a somewhat solid game against Bay of Plenty scoring a nice intercept try and had some nice carries.
He was penalised in the second half for a lazy shoulder tackle and coughed up possession in his own in-goal but reacted quickly enough for it not to lead to a try.
He had little opportunities but he did well to capitalise on his opportunities. Ioane's position in the All Blacks' starting XV has come under some pressure for the first time in his short test career but is still set to be named in the All Blacks Rugby World Cup squad.
Hurricanes' winger Salesi Rayasi also starred in the encounter finishing off two well-taken tries.
