Armitage to leave Toulon at the end of the season

The latest news headlines have been dominated by claims from various Toulon boss, Mourad Boudjellal, that Eddie Jones tapped Steffon Armitage for a return to the England side - a claim that Jone vehemently denies.

“You have to remember the bloke who makes the comments writes comic books,” said Jones. Boudjellal was previously in the publishing business. “I don’t know whether he writes them or sells them but he has made plenty of money out of them. Batman and Robin won’t be in the team. People have false Facebook posts and false Twitter accounts so I suppose you can have a false phone call.”

What is clear however is that Armitage will be released from his contract with Toulon at the end of the season.

Scott Barrett re-signs with Crusaders

The lock, who has had an impressive first two seasons with Crusaders, has extended his contract for another two years.

“Scott is a talented young player, who has an exciting future ahead of him. You could see straight away that he was going to be a great footballer and this season he has proved it. He has taken every opportunity he’s been given and is pushing some of the more experienced players in the team for game time. Scott has an exciting future ahead of him,”  said Crusaders Head Coach, Todd Blackadder
