New deal for Trimble: Ulster winger Andrew Trimble has confirmed he will be staying with the Irish province for the next two years, having signed a contract extension which will see him through to the end of the 2016/2017 season. Having made his debut almost ten years ago against Cardiff, Trimble has gone on to represent the Blefast-based outfit on 188 occasions, scoring 64 tries in the process. That same year, Trimble went on to make his first appearance in the Irish jersey against Australia and has since amassed over 50 appearances in the green jersey, bagging himself 16 tries in the process. Having had a stellar international season with last year’s Six Nations winners, Trimble has struggled with a toe injury this year, but is targeting a comeback to action just in time for the World Cup in England later this year. A real crowd favourite at Kingspan Ravenhill, Ulster fans will be undoubtedly delighted that one of their own has resigned and committed his future to the province. Trimble is expected to return to action in the coming months.
Deysel injury: Sharks fans across the globe are awaking to some bad news on the injury front, as reports emerge that back row forward Jean Deysel is expected to be sidelined for more than a month. Deysel has suffered an ankle injury which requires a small surgery procedure to take place in order to fully repair the damage sustained. According to the club’s official Twiiter account, Deysel will miss between four and six weeks of action. Elsewhere in Sharks news, Springbok backs JP Pietersen and Frans Steyn have returned to training with the Sharks after stints in Japan, while the previously injured Willem Alberts is also back in contention for the Sharks’ clash against the Stormers in Cape Town this weekend.
