Weekend Round Up
Ulster-bound Marcell Coetzee out for six months

The 24-year-old back row was stretchered off during this weekend'd Super Rugby match between Sharks and Lions after sustaining a knee injury.

“It’s not looking good. He’s gone to hospital, he’s had a scan,” said Gary Gold, Sharks coach. Further tests today will determine the extent of the injury, but he is expected to be out of action for at least six months.

Coetzee signed a three-year deal with Ulster and was due to join the side at the end of the Super Rugby season, but Ulster rugby fans may have to wait a few months longer to see the Springbok take to the field.

Fiji take Hong Kong Sevens

A weary New Zealand side faced Fiji in the final of the Hong Kong Sevens and came off second best with captain Tim Mikkleson and Sam Dickson out of play due to knee injuries. Semi Kunatane's length of the field try cinched the title for the Fijians 21 - 7 and Kunatane was named player of the final.

Wasps secure a dramatic win over Exeter

The Worcester side have progressed through to the semi-finals of the European Championship after an outstanding 24-25 win over Exter this weekend. A try by former All Black Charles Piutau in the last  of the game, followed by a sideline conversion from Jimmy Gopperth, gave the Wasps a one point victory.

“It was great theatre at the end for the supporters. It’s not a bad way to win, but not a great way to lose, so you have got to feel for Rob (Exeter coach Rob Baxter). It was a great game that could have gone either way,” said Dai Young, Wasps Director of Rugby.

“Fair play to Jimmy. It wasn’t an easy kick. I don’t think many people in the stadium were watching it with both eyes open, that’s for sure.”
