A former student of Grey College Bloemfontein, Andrew du Plesis represented the Free State at youth level before joining the Sharks Academy after school.
The young hooker made an impression on the Sharks coaching staff and made his first class debut during the 2015 Vodacom Cup.
In 2016 he was named in the Sharks Currie Cup Qualifying squad and the following year he made his Currie Cup debut against the Cheetahs.
