Jack Cornelsen (ジャック・コーネルセン, Jakku kōnerusen) is an Australian-born Japanese rugby union player who excels in the flanker position. Born on 13 October 1994, Cornelsen has established himself as a key player for the Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan's Top League.

Cornelsen's journey to representing Japan began when he received his first call-up to the country's wider training squad in April 2021, in preparation for the British and Irish Lions test. This opportunity highlighted his talent and potential to contribute to the national team's success. On 24 May, he was named in the 36-man squad for the match against the Sunwolves and the subsequent tour of Scotland and Ireland.

Qualifying for Japan on residency in November 2020, Cornelsen embraced the opportunity to represent his adopted country. It is worth noting that he comes from a rugby pedigree, as his father is Greg Cornelsen, a Wallabies legend known for his remarkable four-try performance against the All Blacks in 1978 at Eden Park.

Cornelsen's rugby journey took an interesting turn when he joined the Panasonic Wild Knights after playing in the NRC (National Rugby Championship). Under the guidance of coach Robbie Deans, Cornelsen flourished in his role as a blindside flanker, showcasing his skills and making a strong impact on the field. Despite initially not considering the idea of playing for Japan when he moved to the country, Cornelsen's dedication and exceptional performances led to his inclusion in the national squad.

In May 2021, Cornelsen was recognized as one of the 13 uncapped players named in Jamie Joseph's Japanese squad, which faced the Sunwolves and the British and Irish Lions. This selection further solidifies his status as a rising talent in Japanese rugby union.

As Cornelsen continues to hone his skills and gain more experience, he has the potential to make significant contributions to both his club, the Panasonic Wild Knights, and the Japanese national team. With his talent, lineage, and determination, Cornelsen is poised to make a lasting impact in the world of rugby.

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Cornelsen has been named in the training squad for Japan.
