Tupou Sopoaga

5th Jun 1995 1.85m/100kg Openside Flanker

While attending Wellington College, Sopoaga played his junior rugby league for the Petone Panthers, and was selected to play for the New Zealand schoolboys rugby union team in 2010.

He was signed by the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and played for their NYC team in 2011 and 2012.

The former Wellington College pupil played in the back-row in the NRL, and earned 16 first-grade games for the Sharks and five for the Panthers.

After struggling for game time in the NRL, he made his way to union in late 2016 in Australia's domestic competition.

The former NRL star was named on the bench for the Highlander's sixth round Super Rugby match against the Melbourne Rebels, just a few weeks after signing up for Southland's next Mitre 10 Cup campaign.

He is younger brother of All Blacks and Highlanders first-five eighth Lima Sopoaga.
