Ireland survived a scare from Italy. The Azzuri were brimming with confidence and dominated the first half and led at the break for the first time ever at the Aviva. Ireland made some changes in the second half and turned the game around to win 20-13.

The Ireland scrum was poor especially in the first half. Dan Sheehan committed a school boy foul trying to jump over players while carrying the ball.

An average game all-round for the lock pair. No real impact made.

- Jack Conan – 9
The loose trio had an excellent game. Conan carried the ball 12 times and scored a try, he was also a defensive machine making 19 tackles. Doris beat 4 defenders and assisted a try and made 14 tackles.

- Sam Prendergast – 5.5
The half-back pair was poor and failed to dictate the game for Ireland. Prendergast was terrible off the tee missing all his kicks which is crucial in big games.

- Garry Ringrose – 7
The centre pair had a good game in the middle of the park. McCloskey had a 94% tackle success rate and assisted 2 tries.

- James Lowe - 8

The back three were good, both Baloucoune and Osborne scored a try. Collectively they made 228 metres. Baloucoune was also named man-of-the-match.
