Edinburgh hosted Ospreys in a closely contested fixture that remained competitive until the final whistle. Despite travelling with a heavily rotated squad due to injuries and international absences, Ospreys delivered a determined performance, securing three tries and a losing bonus point, while preventing Edinburgh from claiming a bonus point victory.
The visitors began strongly, winning early territory and demonstrating control in the physical exchanges. Fullback Max Nagy was particularly effective under the high ball and contributed well to the kicking battle.
Ospreys came close to opening the scoring after 15 minutes through a driving maul, but Edinburgh successfully held the ball up over the line. The defensive stand sparked momentum for the hosts, who then enjoyed their own spell of territory and possession.
Both teams exchanged defensive stops near their respective try lines, with turnovers and set-piece battles playing a significant role.
The first try of the match went to Ospreys following a well-constructed attacking sequence involving Jack Walsh, Keelan Giles, Luke Davies, and Evardi Boshoff, with Davies eventually finishing the move. The conversion was unsuccessful, giving Ospreys a 5–0 lead.
Ospreys’ scrum earned repeated penalties in the first half, while their maul defence limited Edinburgh’s opportunities. Edinburgh eventually responded following sustained pressure, with Tom Currie crossing shortly before halftime. The conversion drifted wide, sending the teams into the interval level at 5–5.
Halftime: Edinburgh 5–5 Ospreys
Ospreys resumed the match with defensive intensity, and their work rate at the breakdown repeatedly disrupted Edinburgh’s continuity. Moments later, another flowing attacking move culminated in a try for Phil Cokanasiga on the right wing. The conversion did not land, leaving the visitors ahead 10–5.
Edinburgh struck back through their driving maul, with Harri Morris grounding the ball to level the match. Ross Thompson added the extras to give the home side a 12–10 advantage.
As pressure built again in the Ospreys 22, the visitors produced significant defensive moments, including a turnover from Kian Hire to relieve pressure. However, with eight minutes remaining, a grubber kick from Finn Thompson was collected by Harry Paterson under the posts for Edinburgh’s third try. The conversion stretched the lead to 19–10.
Ospreys continued to compete and were rewarded late in the match when Boshoff broke through for their third try, converted by Walsh, reducing the deficit to 19–17.
In the closing moments, Edinburgh retained possession to control territory, but Ospreys’ defence held firm, preventing a further score and ensuring the hosts missed out on a bonus point.
