Rassie Erasmus focusses on his next world class 13
- 1949
The Springboks have a history of world beater 13's over the years but more recently they have managed to have the likes of Lukhanyo Am and Jesse Kriel on form through two World Cup cycles. Now Rassie Erasmus sets his sights on a replacement to fill those big shoes.

Canan Moodie has been seen as the next cab off the rank as the Bulls winger/centre has out together some good performances at 13 in the green and gold. Injuries have likely slowed down the move but the 22 year old still has plenty of time to make his mark. His predecessor's only nailed down their starting credentials late on with Lukhanyo Am being 24 and Jesse Kriel at 28 years old.
Moodie brings something different to the table with his eye for finishing and pace to burn it will would have been no surprise if he stayed on the wing for both the Bulls and the Springboks. While he is no stranger to the position having played there for Boland Lanbou during his schooling years he has shown great maturity and work ethic on defensive reads and execution, most noteably in the big Springbok win over the All Blacks in the most recent round of the Rugby Championship.
Standing at 1.91m and weighing 94kg he has the physical attributes of both Jesse Kriel and Lukhanyo Am which not only stops the momentum of the attack with dominant tackles but slows ball down at the breakdown with busy ruck work on both sides of the ball.
The Springbok coaches have another superb young midfielder in the squad already with Ethan Hooker and many predict that he and Canan Moodie are the future for the springboks in the centre's. Add to this list the exciting but injury prone Henco van Wyk and the obvious choice of Damian Willemse at 12 the South African's, on paper at least, look to be in a good place.
