Double hooker blow for Connacht ahead of Stormers opener

SQUAD UPDATE: Connacht released their first squad update of the season, ahead of Friday’s meeting with DHL Stormers at Dexcom Stadium.
Flanker Will Connors (foot) and centre Hugh Gavin (leg) both continue to progress well from their respective injuries at the end of last season.
Connors is due to begin training integration in early October, while Gavin is targeting a return in December following his leg break in the quarterfinal against Glasgow.
Hooker Dylan Tierney-Martin (ankle) underwent surgery after an injury in the pre-season friendly with Vannes and will miss this block of six games before the November break.
Meanwhile, fellow No.2 Dave Heffernan (calf) and loose forward Harry West (hamstring) will both be unavailable for Friday’s game.
Heffernan will be further assessed later in the week while West will miss a number of weeks.
The seven players involved in Ireland’s July fixtures will not be available this week, with their return to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
They are Bundee Aki, Billy Bohan, Ciarán Frawley, Sam Illo, Sean Jansen, Darragh Murray and Cian Prendergast.
