The Springboks eye their biggest ever points haul in the Rugby Championship

The Springboks are 24 points away from scoring more points than they ever have in a Rugby Championship Tournament. Not only are they eyeing this milestone but by winning on Saturday in London they will retain the trophy for the first time in their history.

Back in 2013, while finishing second to the All Blacks who secured their 12th title, South Africa scored 203 points in their six games with Morne Steyn scoring 88 points and top scoring in the tournament that year. He was followed by Christian Leali'ifano (64 points) and Ben Smith (40 points and leading try scorer with eight)

Rassie Erasmus' men need just 10 points against Argentina to secure second on their list of most points, passing the 2024 campaign which finished on 188 points.

The tournament record is held by the All Blacks who bagged 262 points from their 2016 campaign. Beauden Barret scored 81 points and the All Blacks had the top six try scorers of the tournament, ent with Israel Dagg and Ben Smith scoring five each and Beauden Barrett, Ryan Crotty, TJ Perenara and Julian Savea scoring four each.
