Matías Moroni is an Argentine rugby union player who currently plays as a centre and wing for the Newcastle Falcons in Premiership Rugby and the Argentina national rugby union team. He was born on 29 March 1991.

Moroni began his rugby career playing youth rugby for Los Molinos and the Club Universitario de Buenos Aires (CUBA). In 2016, he signed with the Jaguares, Argentina's Super Rugby team.

He played for the Jaguares until 2020 when he made a move to join the Leicester Tigers in Premiership Rugby. He quickly settled into the team, making a positive impression and scoring his first try for Leicester against Connacht in a European Rugby Challenge Cup round of 16 game.

Moroni was recognized as a defensive lynchpin for Leicester and played a key role in their 2022 Premiership Rugby final victory.

In June 2022, Moroni was announced as a new signing for the Newcastle Falcons. He joined the team ahead of the 2022-2023 season.

On the international stage, Moroni has represented Argentina at various levels. He was a member of the Argentina Under-20 side that competed in the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship. He also represented the Pumas sevens team in multiple competitions in 2012 and 2013 and was selected for the Pampas XV's tour of Oceania in 2014.

Moroni made his senior international debut for Argentina, known as Los Pumas, on 20 June 2014 against Scotland in Córdoba. While he wasn't initially selected for the 2014 Rugby Championship, he did earn his second cap in a 20-18 win over Italy in Genoa during the 2014 end-of-year rugby union internationals.

He has competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics as part of the Argentina national rugby sevens team.

Moroni has made over 40 appearances for the Argentina national team, including two Rugby World Cup campaigns in 2015 and 2019. He is known for his versatility and entertaining style of play, often featuring in the midfield as well.

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Moroni has been named in the squad for Argentina.
