The Crusaders are proud to confirm Forwards Coach Dan Perrin has accepted a fixed-term role with USA Rugby as the USA Men's Eagles Forwards Coach.
Perrin will join the Eagles for the rest of their games in 2026 while continuing in his role with the Crusaders. During that time, the USA side has an international series against Australia and the World Rugby Nations Cup against Hong Kong China, Romania and Georgia.
Following the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season, he will also rejoin the Eagles coaching group for the 2027 Rugby World Cup campaign.
Perrin says the opportunity to contribute to the growth of rugby in the United States and experience a different international environment is one he’s excited for.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with USA Rugby and contribute to their programme. Rugby continues to evolve and grow around the world, and as coaches, we're always looking for opportunities to learn, challenge ourselves.
“Working with a different group of players and coaches will provide valuable experiences that I can bring back to the Crusaders and I'm fortunate to have the support of the club to pursue opportunities like this.”
Crusaders Head Coach Scott Hansen says the appointment is a fantastic opportunity for Perrin and one the club is supportive of.
"Exposure to different teams, players, and coaching groups broadens your thinking and ultimately makes you better at what you do,” says Hansen.
“The experience Dan gains will be valuable for both his own development and our programme when he returns. We're proud to see him take on this opportunity while remaining an important part of our coaching group."
Perrin will return to Christchurch in November ahead of the Crusaders 2027 Super Rugby Pacific pre-season.
