Huw Taylor signs Warriors first-team deal

Huw Taylor has graduated from the Warriors Academy after signing the first-team deal from the summer of 2017.

Having joined the Senior Academy in 2014, Taylor has been an ever-present for Worcester Cavaliers, having captained the side and helping them to the A League final in 2015.

Taylor made his first-team debut against Nottingham Rugby in the British & Irish Cup in 2014 and played a significant role in helping the team win the competition that season, making six appearances.

He has since gone on to play 17 times for Warriors and has featured in this season's European Challenge Cup and Anglo-Welsh Cup competitions.

Taylor has represented England Under 20s during the 2016 Six Nations campaign, before playing in every game for his country as they picked up the Junior World Championship title last June.

Warriors Director of Rugby Gary Gold said: "Huw is a fine young athlete who always gives everything.

"He has impressed when presented with opportunities in Europe and in the Anglo-Welsh Cup and I'm sure he will be nipping at the heels of our current back rowers for a chance to make his Premiership debut in the near future.”

Taylor added: "It's a dream come true for me to sign a first-team deal with my childhood club.

"Having come through the Academy system, I'm committed to helping other Academy players break into the first-team set-up.

"The Club provides fantastic opportunities to develop as a professional rugby player and you only have to look as far as this season to see the likes of Josh, Shilly and Singo step up and hopefully now I can make that jump too.”
