Pro14 Round Up

Round 12 did the Guinness Pro14 proud with some great scores and impressive combacks in largely difficult conditions.

Edinburgh came back from sluggish periods either side of half-time against Connacht to post a convincing win and cement their place at the top of Conference B.

Munster enjoyed a bonus-point win over Zebre in Milan. The Italians were forced to play most of the game with 14 men after Pierre Bruno was given his marching orders after 10 minutes.

Leinster maintained a perfect record in this year’s competition with an astonishing 12 wins from 12 outings, the most recent being a victory over Ospreys. The latter were competitive up until the final 10 minutes when a Cian Kelleher try put the game out of their reach.

Ulster came back from last weekend’ loss with a good win over the Cheetahs in a cold and wet Belfast. Flyhalf Bill Johnson was the heart and soul of the Ulster team, contributing 10 points with the boot and scooping the man-of-the-match award.

Glasgow Warriors downed Dragons with a bonus-point win at Scotstoun on Saturday evening. Hooker Grant Stewart was on fine form, scoring two tries for his team. Dragons scored first through scrumhalf Rhodri Williams, prompting a spirited fight-back from Warriors who found good momentum to see them through.

After a first half that belonged to Benneton, the teams jogged off at half-time with Cardiff down 3 tries to 1. However, Cardiff turned the tables with an impressive second half display, scoring 4 more tries and dashing Benneton’s hopes of victory.

The Scarlets were slow to get into gear against the Southern Kings last night at Parc y Scarlets. The visitors were leading at the 50 minute mark before the home side found rhythm on attack, dotting down 4 times for victory.
