Scarlets injury update ahead of Dragons game

Scarlets Director of Rugby has issued a squad update to the media ahead of Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship round two clash with the Dragons.

Wales international fly-half Sam Costelow has come through his head injury protocols and is available for the visit to Rodney Parade. Prop Kemsley Mathias, centre Johnny Williams, flanker Dan Davis and fly-half Carwyn Leggatt-Jones are also available for selection.

Prop Corey Domachowski is set to miss the opening block of matches with a chest injury sustained in the pre-season game against Saracens.

Taine Plumtree and Fletcher Anderson are close to making their return from injury, but are unavailable this weekend.

Speaking at his weekly media conference, Davies said: “The squad’s starting to look a lot healthier. There’s a lot more competition now as we move forward. 

“I think over the next three or four weeks we’ll see us come pretty close to full strength. We’ve still got a couple of players to come in but we’re getting there.

“Sam (Costelow) is fine and there’s a couple of others as well. Dan Davis is now up for selection as is Johnny Williams and Kemsley.

“Taine (Plumtree) and Fletch (Anderson) aren’t far away either. The squad is becoming a lot more competitive now.”
