Bongi Mbonambi

Mbonambi , a robust hooker, is a two-time Craven Week representative, a South African schools representative and also formed part of the 2011 Baby Boks side.

He built a solid reputation at the Bulls for both his physicality and work-rate but moved to Western Province in 2014 seeking regular game time.

He performed well in his debut match against the Saracens which saw him score a try. Since joining WP & the Stormers, he has been a regular starter.

Mbonambi made his test debut in 2016 following an impressive Super Rugby campaign with the Stormers and in January 2017, he signed a new three-year contract with the union.

The hooker has made 45 Super Rugby appearances since his debut in 2012.

Mbonambi missed the start of the Super Rugby season through injury but returned in time to be named in the Springboks June Test squad and heads into the matches against Wales and England with 14 Test caps.

Bongi Mbonambi heads into the 2018 Rugby Championship with 16 test caps.
