Fletcher Newell

A product of Rangiora High School in New Zealand, the young powerful prop currently attends Lincoln University whilst in pursuit of his rugby passions.

In 2019, Newell represented New Zealand at the Under 20 Championship in Argentina and was also named New Zealand's Rugby Age Grade Player of the Year.

Newell was a standout player during the Canterbury Under 19 campaign in the 2019 season.

He’s a powerful scrummager, and broke the Crusaders Academy all-time squat record with a massive 255kg effort earlier in 2020.

He was also a member of the Canterbury 2020 Mitre 10 Cup squad, before being named in the Crusaders squad for the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season.

Newell made his debut in the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season.

In the 2022 Super Rugby season, Newell played 14 games for the Crusaders, starting 7 and scoring 2 tries.

In July 2022, Newell was called into the All Blacks squad as injury replacement ahead of New Zealand's two Tests in South Africa.

Newell made his international debut for New Zealand on 13 August 2022 against South Africa at Johannesburg.

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Newell has been named in the squad for New Zealand.
