Jack Hanratty was born 9 May 1989 in Skerries, County Dublin, Ireland
He began his rugby coaching career working with youth and provincial programmes in Ireland, including a stint at Leinster Rugby as a Development Officer
In 2012, Hanratty moved to Canada — originally on a short-term visit, but the stay turned into a permanent relocation, and he eventually became a Canadian citizen
In October 2021 he became interim head coach of Canada’s Senior Women’s Sevens team. By 9 August 2022, he was confirmed as full-time Head Coach of the Sevens team.
In December 2025, he became the head coach of USA Women
