Leicester ran out 16-12 victors over Exeter in this Anglo-Welsh Cup final clash at Twickenham Stoop. It was an excellent game from start to finish with both sides displaying some beautiful phases of thrilling rugby throughout. Ultimately, it was the clinical nature of this Leicester side which sealed the victory for them, Freddie Burns always on hand to capitalise on poor Exeter discipline with some fantastically struck penalties. Unfortunately, his opposite number Joe Simmonds was unable to show the same level of kicking form from the tee. Exeter will be bitterly disappointed to have gone so close and come away with nothing but they can take a lot of pride in a great team performance. Leicester on the other hand will be delighted to have clinched this victory and gotten their hands on the first available piece of silverware this season. They will be hoping this win can spur them on to maintain a high performance level for the remainder of the Premiership season.
