The Canes have one last attack, but a huge effort from the Highlanders pack comes up with one last turnover to seal the game. Great win from the Highlanders, but credit must go to both sides who gave a wonderful spectacle despit the fact that neither had anything to play for. Murray binned for diving in off his feet with the Canes in dangerous field position. Barrett kicks the ensuing penalty to give us a one score game with less than 5 mins to go.

Strange try from the Canes, Hore wins it on the ground and pops the ball up, only for it to be intercepted by Smylie on the Highlanders own line, for an easy try. Barrett converts to again give his side a chance with ten minutes to go.

Gear beats the line and gets on the outside to race clear of the Canes defence, and with only Barrett to beat he steps inside him to dot down and give his side some breathing space.

Dixon makes an initial break to give the Canes impetus. After the ball is recycled Sheilds shifts the ball to Savea who gets on the outside to score to really get his side back in the game. Barrett with the conversion from in front of the posts.

After sustained pressure from the Canes the Highlanders run out of numbers wide, Barrett whipping the ball to Franks to score in the corner. Barrett then converts the tricky conversion to give his side a sniff, with just over 20 minutes left.

Smith binned for slowing the ball down with the Hurricanes camped on the Highlanders line.

10 minutes into the half, most of the play is around the half way as both teams struggle against eachothers defence.

Great individual try from Kade Poki, beating Smith on the outside before showing great pace and strength to race clear for the score, as the half time hooter goes. Slade cant convert this one to leave is at 32-13 to the Highlanders at half time.
