After a mildly promising first quarter, this match deteriorated considerably for the Irish. Earls crossed early in the first for Ireland's only try. The game then developed into a sloppy slug fest with the Italians, in which the Azzuris threatened the Irish lead for a considerable period. Schmidt's men will be disappointed, as will the Italians who had a real shot at maintaining their quarter final aspirations. Job done for the Irish, albeit poorly.

it was a bad performance sure, but they are much better than that. maybe a bit of england syndrome and they might be crushing under the weight of expectation. hope joe can work his voodoo and get them focus for france
