An exhilarating match here at Welford Road which Leicester dominating throughout. The hosts will be annoyed that they didn't get a bonus point as they were overwhelmed by chances throughout the match. It started well for Newcastle, however, as they took the lead through a Craig Willis penalty following a sin-binning for Fraser Balmain. It got better for Newcastle as they mauled over and Nili Latu got the first try of the game. It would be their last score of the game, however, as Leicester hit back with a penalty and should have gotten their first try when Telusa Veainu was over after a perfect Ben Youngs cross-field kick but he failed to ground the ball correctly. Newcastle lost both Agulla and Wilson to the bin before Veainu made up for his previous mistake by finishing well in the corner. Leicester should have take the lead before half time after Matthew Tait made the exact same mistake as Veainu but the sides went in level at the break. They made no mistake after half time, however, and scored almost instantly as Peter Betham got his side's second. Betham turned provider for Laurence Pearce as Leicester pushed for a bonus point but were left just short.
