Why the yellow?

Ultimate Rugby Sep 9

Newcastle take the lead! More pressure from the visitors as they make their way into Sale half off the back of a dominant scrum. Penalty awarded and Godman makes no mistakes! The No.10 looking very confident all of a sudden. 12-11

And we're back! MacLeod gets us back under way

Ultimate Rugby Sep 9

Half time at the AJ Bell Stadium and we have a game on our hands! Sharks lead cut to only 2 points just before the break from another Godman penalty. The Scot looks much improved from last weeks dismal performance against Bath which Richards will no doubt be happy about. Sale's offense looking dangerous in patches but the host's have lost control of the game somewhat in the last 15 or so minutes of the first half. Newcastle still very much relying on their scrum for scoring opportunities with Montanella having a great game here this evening in the front row. Can the new boys make something of this opportunity? Really looking forward to finding out in the second half!

Falcon's loose-head Franck Montanella earns his side a penalty from a very impressive scrum. Newcastle definitely dominating that part of the game so far Godman cuts Shark's lead to 5. 11-6

Finally a yellow arrives for the Falcons after repeated offences from the visitors. Dominic Barrow earns himself 10 minutes in the bin for more foul play at ruck time. Sale kick for touch, LO 5 metres from opposition line. A clever move from the hosts off the top allows Daniel Braid to cross the white wash for an easy try! MacLeod unable to add the extras. 11-3

MacLeod makes it 6-3, 25 minutes into the first half. Fraser McKenzie collapses a maul, 15 metres into the Falcons half, 10 metres in from the touch line. Newcastle lucky to have gotten away without a yellow card after a quick succession of penalties
