Should Pape of seen red

With the score 15-6 to Ireland at the time, Pascal Pape was involved in an incident with Jamie Heaslip that could of seen him sent off. Wayne Barnes went to the TMO, with replays showing that Pape deliberately threw his knee into the back of  Heaslip. Pape was shown a yellow card, but it could of  easily have been a red. However the Stade Francais man is not out of the woods yet and was cited this morning and could now face suspension.

Scotland miss another opportunity to beat Wales

After an impressive performance against France last week, Scotland went into the Wales game confident of ending their run of seven straight defeats to the Welsh. However they fell short once again. losing 26-23 in the end. They now host Italy next weekend looking for their first win of the championship as they now look to avoid the wooden spoon.

Sexton man of the hour for Ireland

Having not played for neither club nor country since November, Johnny Sexton put in a match winning performance leading Ireland to 18-11 victory over the French. He finished the game with a 100% success from the tee and his kicking from hand was also excellent. Despite getting a cut to the eye he should be fit for the England game in two weeks time, with Ireland fans looking for more of the same.

Did referee mistakes cost Scotland

Vern Cotter and his coaching staff will not be happy with referee Glen Jackson after some decisions did not go their way in yesterday’s defeat to Wales. The first decision that Cotter will not be happy with was the decision not to go to the TMO for the Mark Bennett disallowed try, and also for not allowing time for one more play after Welsh had gone over the whitewash. Scotland are now expected to write an extremely negative report on Jackson’s performance. but in the end will do nothing to change the result.

England and Ireland still in the running for a Grand Slam

After both sides made it two wins from two they are now the only sides still in the running for a Grand Slam. With the two sides meeting in Dublin in two weeks, we are expecting an extremely competitive game. England’s record against Ireland has been quite good in recent years with Ireland’s last win coming in 2011 when they defeated England 24-8 to deny them the Grand Slam. It’s going to be tough to call a winner in a game that will go down to the wire.
