Beirne Stars in Munster Win

Beirne Stars in Munster Win

The commentators tonight said that they’d tried their damnedest not to award the Irishman with Man of the Match but he was just too impressive. He got Munster out of jail time and time again, stealing ball at the lineout and robbing ball at the breakdown, when the Ospreys got in the vicinity of his team’s try line. The second row forced a penalty try late in the first half, as he dove for the base of the post, making Sam Cross infringe from an offside position to stop him. His performance wasn’t perfect, but his ability to turn up for the big moments distinguished him from the rest of the field.

Ospreys main competitor for the MOTM award was the scorer of their solitary try. He went over for the levelling score, after pouncing on a bouncing ball, behind enemy lines in the opening 20 minutes. He was a menace in attack throughout the game and cleaned up Munster’s kicks in behind on more than one occasion. The winger was also his side’s top tackling back today, besides his out-half. A decent shift from the South African.
