We take a look at 10 Stats & Facts ahead of Saturday's Champions Cup quarter-final between Edinburgh and Munster at BT Murrayfield Stadium.

Edinburgh fell short against Munster in last year’s Guinness PRO14 Final Series Qualifier – the first post-season league appearance in the club’s history – while a youthful capital outfit were well beaten by the Irish side at Musgrave Park in November.

1. This will be Edinburgh's first Champions Cup knockout fixture in seven years.

2. While this is Edinburgh’s third appearance in the knockout-stages of European rugby’s premier competition, it is Munster’s 18th time in the last eight of the tournament.

3. Viliame Mata (115), an European Player of the Year nominee, was the only player to make 100+ carries in the pool stage this season, and he also made more metres (394) than any other forward. 


4. Munster’s Joey Carbery was the top points-scorer in the pool stage with 68 thanks to three tries, 10 conversions and 11 penalties.

5. Tadhg Beirne won the most turnovers (13) in the pool stage, a category he also topped while with Scarlets last season.


6. Munster have won three of their four games against Edinburgh in the tournament (L1).

7. Munster missed fewer tackles (107) than any other side in the pool stage this season, resulting in a competition-high tackle rate of 89%.

8. Edinburgh have won 17 of their last 19 home games in European competition (L2), although their two defeats in that run both came in quarter-finals, albeit of the Challenge Cup – against La Rochelle in 2017 and Cardiff Blues in 2018.

9. Munster's one defeat in the tournament came the last time Edinburgh hosted the fixture in Round 1 of the 2013/14 season.

10. Munster have progressed to the semi-finals in 13 of their previous 17 appearances.
