Coach pays tribute to winger
Springbok head coach Heyneke Meyer paid tribute to Bryan Habana after he equalled Jonah Lomu’s record of 15 tries at the Rugby World Cup.
Habana could have had a fourth but was unable to ground the loose ball, having to settle for a hat-trick that took him to 64 Test tries.
"First of all it sounds corny but I think the one thing we are getting right now is it's more about the team than the individual. Sometimes you have to lose to see that,” Meyer said.
"Bryan has always played well for me. He is always the guy who comes through in the big games.
"Bryan, when we really needed him in the last two or three weeks, did his best for us. I am so proud of him not just as a rugby player but as a human being as well.
"He is a great ambassador for South Africa."
