Connacht Rugby cancel Sevu Reece's contract

Waikato winger Sevu Reece will not be joining Connacht after signing with the PRO14 side in May.

Reece would have joined the side at the conclusion of the 2018 Mitre 10 Cup season.

Reece pleaded guilty to assault. He was fine and discharged without conviction after the incident that left his girlfriend with injuries to her upper face, bruising to the left side of her waist and left knee.

Connacht Rugby and the IRFU released the following statement: 

"Connacht Rugby and the IRFU have taken the decision, following contact with Sevu Reece in relation to the circumstances of a recent court appearance, not to proceed with a contract to play with the province.
 
Connacht Rugby and the IRFU will make no further comment"
