Dan Carter Voted Player Of The Decade

Dan Carter beat fellow All Black great Richie McCaw to be voted the player of the decade in a poll run by World Rugby.

World Rugby launched the bracket style poll to be voted by the fans to help name the best player of the last 10 years.

Sixteen players were nominated, seven of which were All Blacks, with McCaw and Carter making it through to the final vote.

Jonathan Sexton was the only Irishman to feature on the shortlist that included Owen Farrell, Will Genia, Bryan Habana and Sergio Parisse to name a few.

The final four spots in the poll were all New Zealanders with Carter advancing to the final over Beauden Barrett and McCaw beating Kieran Read.


The shortlisted players: Jonathan Sexton, Dan Carter, Aaron Smith, Owen Farrell, Will Genia, Beauden Barrett, Bryan Habana, Ma'a Nonu, Tendai Mtawarira, Richie McCaw, Sergio Parisse, Brodie Retallick, Alun-Wyn Jones, David Pocock, Sam Warburton, Kieran Read
