Disciplinary update: WXV Global Series 2026

World Rugby can confirm the disciplinary decision in respect of Danelle Lochner (South Africa) following a red card issued in the WXV Global Series match on Friday 18 September 2026.

Danelle Lochner (South Africa) has had her red card rescinded following a referral by the Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) for a full disciplinary hearing.

A Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC), chaired by Philippe Cavalieros (France), joined by former referees Donal Courtney (Ireland) and Juan Pablo Spirendelli (Argentina), convened to consider the red card issued to Danelle Lochner for an offence contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle), the FPRC decided to refer the matter to a Disciplinary Committee for a full hearing, 

The Disciplinary Committee hearing took place on Tuesday, 22 September 2026 and was chaired by Roddy Dunlop KC (Scotland), joined by former players Jamie Corsi (Wales) and Olly Kohn (Wales).

Having considered all available evidence and the player’s submissions, the committee decided that the incident constituted foul play and met the red card threshold, however the Committee found that there were mitigating circumstances which should have applied and on that basis they decided to dismiss the red card. The player is free to play with immediate effect.
