Disciplinary: Sean McCarthy, Bedford Blues

The case of Sean McCarthy, Bedford Blues' forwards coach, was heard by sole judicial officer, Matthew O’Grady.

McCarthy was charged with conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Union and the game, contrary to RFU Rule 5.12 for an incident during the game against Coventry on 11 February 2023.  McCarthy admitted the charge but denied the particulars and the contents of the match official's evidence.

McCarthy received a three-week ban from attending any Bedford Blues game, home or away. This will be reduced to two weeks and one suspended if he completes a presentation to the Bedford Blues junior teams before the third weekend of the ban.*

McCarthy will miss the following games:

18 February v Doncaster Knights RFC
