Edinburgh Rugby trio extend their stay in the capital

Backs Blair Kinghorn, Damien Hoyland and Duhan van der Merwe have today all committed their immediate futures to Edinburgh.

The back-three trio have been in fine form this season, scoring 15 tries between them in all competitions. Kinghorn, Van der Merwe and Hoyland have all chosen to extend their stay in the capital on three, two and one year deals respectively.

On the trio committing their immediate futures to the club, Edinburgh Head Coach Richard Cockerill said: “It’s great news that all three players have chosen to stay in Edinburgh. It’s a huge boost to both the club and the strong culture that we’re continuing to develop.

“Blair has been one of our most dangerous players this season and was fully deserving of his call up to the Scotland squad for the NatWest 6 Nations – and he’s only continuing to develop.”

A product of Edinburgh Academy, Kinghorn was named in the Scotland squad ahead of the 2018 6 Nations and on Sunday was an unused substitute as Gregor Townsend's side defeated France 32-26.

Damien Hoyland, joined his hometown team from BT Premiership side Melrose 2014 and has since made 58 appearances for the club, while Springbok age-grade internationalist, van der Merwe, joined the club from Montpellier last summer; making his debut against Cheetahs during Edinburgh’s two-week tour of South Arica.
