Exeter vs. Castres - Top Performers

Jack Nowell - Exeter Chiefs

Having played his last game for the club in October, Nowell returned to Chiefs rugby in style marking his outing with a Man of the Match performance against the French side. Nowell showed no signs of rustiness in his 54 minutes on the pitch at Sandy Park and got the hosts off to the perfect start when he danced through three defenders before touching down in the corner to start the rout. The England wing created the third try for Exeter, exploiting a gap in the Castres defence. He finished the game with 138 metres gained in attack, 8 defenders beaten, 2 clean breaks and a try. Welcome back, Jack!

Henry Slade - Exeter Chiefs

Combined with Ollie Devoto in midfield to devastating effect throughout the contest and displayed his full range of attacking ability with line breaks, deft offloads and pinpoint accuracy off the left boot. Slade made a incisive break just three minutes into the second half before placing a beatifully weighted kick to send Tom O' Flaherty away for the all important bonus point score. The England centre was rewarded with a try of his own to help Chiefs to their second win in Europe this campaign. He ran for a gain of 60 metres, beat six defenders, made a clean break, scored a try and provided a try assist for his side.

Ollie Devoto - Exeter Chiefs

Provided one of the try assists of the weekend with a sumptuous out the back door 'SBW Style' to send Joe Simmonds away for Exeter's second score. He provided the hard defensive edge in midfield to stop the advances of the Castres attack. He was a willing ball carrier for his side and ended the game with 10 carries for a gain of 33 metres, beat two defenders and provided that highlight reel offload to help send Exeter to Thomond Park with hopes of Quarter Final progress.
