Ford v Farrell: The battle at 10 continues

On Saturday afternoon George Ford and Owen Farrell will go to war once again looking to be instrumental in their side’s securing a Premiership title and also looking to impress Stuart Lancaster with the World Cup only months away.

Both players will be thinking about their clubs and nothing to do with the battle for the number 10 jersey for England but who ever comes out on top on Saturday will give Stuart Lancaster an idea of who will start at outhalf in the opening game of the World Cup against Fiji in September.

The relationship between the two players goes back quite a while. They have known each other since they were 14 as they attended the same school and lived only metres away from each other. The pair were first capped by England at U16’s level all the way up to U20’s to the senior side.

The pair have competed against each other for years and at this stage know each other’s game inside out. With Ford enjoying a tremendous season and Farrell looking to be back to his best after recovering from injury, the battle for the number 10 jersey is set to be an interesting one.
