Austin Elite Rugby has announced the signing of Perpignan standout, David Mélé. The 33-year-old is officially set to join Austin Elite Rugby for the 2020 Major League Rugby season.
“We’re very pleased to officially announce the signing of Mélé," commented Thierry Daupin CEO, Austin Elite Rugby. “He has got a huge amount of experience and this will assist in developing our young and talented players around him.”
Mélé began his professional career in 2006 with USAP Perpignan. Following their Top 14 Championship win in 2009, and a final’s appearance in 2010 with USAP, he left France to join the Leicester Tigers in 2013.
During this time he was selected to represent France in the FIRA Andorra and Georgia 7’s series (2006-2007) and the French Barbarians, an invitational feeder team to the F.F.R, in their June tour to Argentina (2009).
