Glen Young makes Harlequins switch

Glen Young will join Harlequins from Newcastle Falcons for the start of the 2019/20 season.

Second row Young, who has represented Scotland U20s, has been with Newcastle since he played for their U18s in 2012/13. Two years later he broke into the First Team and represented his country’s U20 side seven times.

He played the 2015/16 season on dual registration with Doncaster Knights and was named in the Championship Dream Team that season, having made the play-off final. Young made his Premiership debut the following season and played a big part in Newcastle’s Challenge Cup campaign.

Head of Rugby Paul Gustard said: “Glen is an incredibly promising talent and we are looking forward to having him as part of our squad as we look to build on the early momentum we have earned to date.

“He has impressed us with his playing performances and we were delighted that he is the kind of self-effacing character we are looking for. He is hungry, energetic and is desperate to improve. He loves lineouts and will add real awareness and acumen to our calling systems and structures.”

Young said: “The set-up at Harlequins is excellent and under Gussy the Club have developed a winning mentality which I know will bring trophies there very soon.

“It is an exciting time to be at Harlequins and I am really looking forward to being a part of it.”
