Habana Withdrawn Due To Cramp
Heyneke Meyer revealed that Bryan Habana was withdrawn before full-time in Friday’s Bronze final because the Springbok winger was suffering from cramp.
Habana as a result missed out on the chance to try and become the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer with 16.
"I just felt that Bryan was cramping, most of the backs were, so it was a tough decision,” Meyer said.
"Bryan came off because he couldn't play any further," said Meyer.
"I'm proud of the guys because it was a tougher week than Japan for me to get the guys up, because we really wanted to win the World Cup for our country.
"A lot of tired bodies out there, everyone was cramping and I knew with a fresh side they would be dangerous in the last 20 minutes. It was great to see everybody get a chance.”
