How The Four Nations Are Represented In The British & Irish Lions Squad

The British & Irish Lions Head Coach, Warren Gatland, has confirmed the 37-man squad to tour South Africa for the 2021 Lions Series.

Gatland has selected 11 Englishman, eight Scotsman, eight Irishman and ten Welshman in his squad.

In the forwards, Gatland has picked Alun Wyn Jones to captain the side with fellow Welshman Wyn Jones, Taulupe Faletau, Ken Owens and Justin Tipuric.

England forwards that feature are hookers Luke Cowan-Dickie and Jamie Goerge with Mako Vunipola as a loosehead prop option. Three second-rowers make the squad from England in Maro Itoje, Jonny Hill and Courtney Lawes. In the back row, Sam Simmonds has been included despite being snubbed by Eddie Jones and he is joined by Tom Curry.

Five Irish forwards feature with props Tadhg Furlong and Andrew Porter, second-rowers Tadhg Beirne and Iaian Henderson with Jack Conan a surprise inclusion in the back row.

Scotland's Hamish Watson makes his first tour after a stunning Six Nations campaign with props Rory Sutherland and Zander Fagerson making the cut.

In the backs, flyers Josh Adams, Liam Williams and Louis Rees-Zammit make the squad from Wales and are joined by halfbacks Dan Biggar and Gareth Davies.

Elliot Daly, Owen Farrell and Anthony Watson feature in the squad from England. Ireland centres Bundee Aki and Robbie Henshaw both feature in the squad along with Conor Murray.

Scotland's Finn Russell makes the cut at flyhalf with his fellow countryman Ali Price at scrumhalf. Duhan van der Merwe and Chris Harris also join the squad along with Scotland captain Stuart Hogg.
